We received an email from Kevin advising he would like to step down as chairperson as he has many other commitments in the community. We nominated Eric Small as our chairperson.
Becky Tisbert advised she would still like to remain the treasurer and was voted in for another term.
Sean Keefe asked to step down as secretary and Kate McCuin Clark was voted in.
We are thrilled to have Peg Davis as a new member to our board.
Eric and his wife Liz have been working on the new Cambridge Recreation website which is cambridgerecreation.com. Many of the changes include a new logo, additional, updated contact information, more programs, updated field schedules and downloadable forms. We will be making this live to the public by October 1 and advertising this on Cambridge Front Porch Forum.
With the new election of officers, we will be adding the new chair to the checking account along with Becky. Either Eric or Becky will take care of this at the Union Bank with Susan in the next week.
Smuggs Ski & Ride Program–
It will be 5 weeks of Sundays again this year, where ticket prices will be $14 for youth, and $18 for an adult.
Becky is also checking with the Aquatics Director at Smuggs to see about local swim lessons, availability and prices.
Tim mentioned looking into the fully enclosed freight box trailers as an equipment shed as John Dunn has given us the approval to use the current soccer shed as our future snack shack. Tim will be getting prices for our next meeting.
We have been fielding several complaints about the $55.00 first child and $45 additional child soccer fees this year as it was a considerable jump from the previous years. This year CRB allotted $1600 for CYS so we are researching the reason for the increase.
We are discussing proposing and implementing a Cambridge Recreation Soccer program in the future to keep costs down.
There was mention of a U14-U16 volleyball interest for the community center.
The Elliot’s are interested in doing some instructional lacrosse for youths that might be interested
The community is questioning why ALL sports programs are not funneled through our recreation board as they are in so many towns?
We will ask to be put on the agenda to meet with the Select board in October to let them know what we have accomplished.
We all agreed we will tweak the mission statement to match it with our revisions.
There is a budget meeting coming up with the Finance Committee and Select board. We will need to get budget forms out to those parties interested in funding.
The next meeting will be held, Thursday, October 6th @ 7:00PM at the Cambridge Town Offices, Church Street, Jeffersonville.
Meeting adjourned 8:40PM.
